The resident tourism in Altea is growing very fast. Exclusive villa areas on the hillsides and very pleasant winter temperatures are attractive for northern Europeans who do not want to live in the bustling tourist area of Benidorm.

Altea is located only 50 km. from Alicante, 10 km. from Benidorm and 130 km. from Valencia. Coming by car, you can opt for the N332 or the AP-7, exit 64. The airports of El Altet, 57 km and Manises, 140 km. connects Altea to the rest of the world. The railway Denia - Alicante stops in Altea and the bus company ALSA connects Altea with almost all mayor cities in Spain. Altea is connected to the centre of Benidorm by frequent bus services.

The Tourist Information Office in Altea is located on Calle Sant Pere, 11. 03590 Altea (España). Phone: +34 965 844 114, Fax: +34 965 844 213, E-mail: altea@touristinfo.net. The Tourist Information Office is open Monday to Friday 9.30 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 19.30. Saurdys: 10.00 to 13.00

Altea is easily divided into three different parts: The coastal area with its long sea promenade where you can enjoy pleasant terraces and nice sea views, the commercial area around the City Town Hall of Altea and finally, the Altea Old Town area that is perfect for strolling around and discover the views and the atmosphere of the streets of the city.

Altea old town lies on a mountain peak near the sea and is something like a bohemian place where many artists have settled down. The steep streets of Altea with whitewashed houses are the idyllic vision of Spain. Altea is certainly not for those who do not like to walk: Many of the streets and alleys in Altea are too narrow for car traffic.

The views in Altea are fantastic: The nearby village of Albir - Alfaz del Pi - Alfas del Pi can be seen clearly just a few kilometers away, and Costa Blancas high skyscrapers in Benidorm are seen far away in the horizon.
